2-1-10: Brief Announcment...

Hello again everybody...

I'm going to apologize off the bat for the brevity of today's column. For those of you who don't know, I've dealt with sciatic issues occasionally for several years. It doesn't take much, just sitting or laying wrong for too long a time and my next few days are spent crooked and in pain.

So I'm writing this whilst sitting at an angle. And it's not exactly the most comfortable writing position in the world. So I'm going to give you your quote, make the announcement I promised you, and move on!

Let's do this.

"Critics search ages for the wrong word, which, to give them credit, they eventually find."
- Peter Ustinov (1921 - 2004), British actor, writer and dramatist

Thank heavens I'm never critical... um... yeah.

Okay... announcement...

Some of you already know about this because I was so excited on Saturday that I had to put it up on my Facebook page.

But I know that some of you are still stubbornly trying to avoid getting with social networking, so for those few, here you go...

As of Saturday, I became a proud Minnesota Twins season ticket holder.

Though in retrospect, it seems like this is something that should've happened ages ago, it was the opening of the new ballpark that finally motivated me to go ahead and plunk down the money.

So, with a co-worker, I've purchased a 20-game plan for the cheapest seats in the building. Basically, I just wanted to make sure and get my foot in the door for 10 games (11 if you count the exhibition game that turned out to be part of the package).

Plus, from all reports from co-workers who've toured the new facility, there's not a bad seat in the house. There's a season ticket holder open house coming up in March (wow, I hope it's not while I'm down in Phoenix...), so hopefully I'll be able to tell you more about the seats.

For now, you can go to this link and enter Section 302, Row 4, and you can get an idea of the view we've got.

I can't even begin to tell you how pumped I am for this. Forget the perks, the fact that I'm guaranteed (weather permitting) 10 games in a brand new outdoor facility. I can't wait!

The only drawback? Finding enough seats to bring all the people I'd like to! I wish I could bring all of you with me, but seats are obviously limited. I think I've got most of the games spoken for, but trust me, if there's a game upcoming that I need a second for, I'll put it up here.

Okay, can't sit crooked like this any more, or I'm going to need a vicodin IV!

I'll be back Wednesday, hopefully in better health!

Until then, thanks for reading!
