ST Top 10 (11th Ed.)

Hello again everybody...

Still no word from the bosses saying that the purge has ended. But Bill Popp (owner/operator of Popp-Comm and part-owner of the Timberwolves) brought in a bunch of food for the station today as part of our honoring military families. So that's a plus.

But ultimately, I'm still employed, so I can't complain too loudly.

So to cap off the week here at The Sports Take we have the 11th edition of the Sports Take Top 10 College Football Poll. Off we go!

"The man of knowledge must be able to not only love his enemies, but also to hate his friends."
- Friedrich Nietzsche (1844-1900), German philosopher

So while I love you, my loyal readers, I guess I have to be willing to hate you too. Hopefully willingness doesn't equate to action!

On to the poll! 10 committed (or committable) Sports Take readers have joined together to bring you the finest in college football rankings. Comments in italics are a random sampling of pollsters.

Rank - Team (First Place Votes) - Points - Ranking in the Last Poll

#1) Alabama (9) - 98 - 1
Judgement day is just around the corner. I have no idea how they'll fare against the Florida juggernaut. But until they play, 'Bama has to be #1.

#2) Oklahoma (1) - 85 - 5
Has anyone noticed how many points Oklahoma's giving up these days? Can they stop anyone? They appear to be taking the Texas Tech philosophy - just outscore 'em!

#3) Texas - 80 - 4
This year's poster-child for the ills of the BCS.

#4) Florida - 76 - 3
Another week, another demolished foe. This week will be very interesting.

#5) USC - 56 - 6
They still have an outside shot at the BCS Title Game, but it's highly doubtful.

#6) Utah - 44 - 6
It appears they'll be this year's BCS-buster. Now we just need to get two non-BCS conference teams into the mix and we'll have something!

#7) Texas Tech - 38 - 2
Not a good week, but I think they just had a letdown after the beatdown (that just came to me... is it trademarkable... is trademarkable a word?!)

#8) Penn State - 37 - 8
How many people want to see JoPa take down Pete Caroll? Raise your hands! Thought so...

#9) Boise State - 22 - 9
I still want Dan to put the Detroit Lions here, but I know he won't, so I'll vote for Boise instead.

#10) Ohio State - 12 - 10
Because the Big Ten has to have yet another reason to piss off the rest of the college football world!

Others Receiving Votes: Ball State 2

Well, that was rather succinct wasn't it?

I'm still predicting Florida/Oklahoma as your National Championship game. Which some folks will tell you means bet the house on Texas/Alabama.

We shall see!

That's all I've got for this week. Hopefully next week will be a little more relaxed around the station and I'll be able to bring you more. Thanks for being patient. And thanks for reading! Have a great weekend everybody!
